Who is Black Paw Design?
The story behind the name.
Black Paw Design got its name from Geneva Noel Chicalese, the cute kitty who lives with Helen Marie. Geneva kitty has one completely black paw. (Check out her picture below. She's the dark one. The other cute kitty is Francine L. Pefko. She's very smart and very elderly.)
Unfortunately, both of these cuties have passed on. But the legacy remains.
Red Barn Artisans
Helen Marie Farrant is a founding member of the Red Barn Artisans, a group of four New Jersey potters. (The other members are Lynn Maszer, Kathy Vitaliano, and Terry Vitaliano.)
Each member of the Red Barn Artisans produces their unique style of pottery in their own studio. Then, as a group, they show and sell their work twice yearly at the Red Barn Studio, located in Branchburg, NJ.
